The film excels in its intricate character development, captivating the audience with their personal stories. This emphasis on character depth marks a refreshing change from the typical style of low-budget found footage movies, which tend to neglect the development of complex characters. There are numerous nuanced details that might go unnoticed initially, making a second viewing beneficial. The movie will undoubtedly resonate with its intended audience, though it might not fulfill the expectations of those in search of high gore levels. It’s evident that the filmmakers tackled this project with a lighthearted approach, demonstrating a profound appreciation for the horror genre. Throughout the film, there are smart, subtle nods to iconic horror movies and stories, including more overt allusions to films like "Blair Witch," all presented with a whimsical, self-aware flair. This playful tone significantly enhanced my viewing experience.

A smart, and captivating found footage horror flick. This film was directed by Matthew Butler-Hart. He does a great job executing this entire project. Found footage films are a hit or miss due to the nature of their gimmick, this one is a definite hit. The "found footage" looks great. All the camera work was very well executed. Everything is shot well and coherently. All the footage was pieced together very well to tell a complete and compelling story. The story and the script was written by Matthew and Tori Butler-Hart. They did a solid job with this script. It's paced very well; with the movie running just over seventy-seven minutes. It does not waste any time. It uses every second to successfully build suspense and establish its horror. The acts flow well and hit all the appropriate beats to keep you engaged. The last act was effective and full of action. The writers could have done a better job with the antagonist and how that all works, but it wasn't a complete detriment to the story. The cast does a nice job with their respective roles. They all understood the assignment. Every performance in this film felt grounded and it really helped the believability of the footage. Our two protagonists, especially, are fun and really do a good job fleshing out their characters. They have great chemistry and dynamics, which aid in delivering a couple of great natural performances that need to be commended. The blood and gore in this film is minimal, but very effective when it is done. They make great use of practical horror action to amplify the story. The movie also had a good spooky factor going for it. Especially since we don't get the red stuff until the latter portion of the movie. The last time I was entertained this much by a found footage feature flick was a couple of years ago with Shudder's DEADSTREAM, and even that got annoying after a while. (Note: V/H/S 85 is excellent, but doesn't count because it's an anthology.) This movie was surprisingly entertaining and fun. The characters reel you in and the spooky stuff is successful all the way until the end.

Wish I could give this less stars. What a complete waste of time as a movie. I think the acting was *okay* but what a garbage film otherwise.

"Dagr has the potential to be a much more original horror flick, but what results is a reasonably predictable take on cliched tropes of the found footage subgenre." Full review on Vague Visages: vaguevisages.com/2024/03/29/dagr-review-movie-film/

Don't fall for the 98% rating, they must be bots. Really corny and predictable. The actors all did the best they could with the material but it's let down by really mediocre writing and terrible sound mixing. It's a found footage movie but any time anything spooky happens the sound effects are so different to the rest of the audio.

Creepy, but why do directors continue to make the error of people leaving lights on to give their position away at all times to the antagonists? Dumb
