Adam Baldwin is an American actor best known for his role as Animal Mother in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, and established a cult following as Jayne Cobb in the series Firefly, and movie Serenity. He studied at the New Trier Township High School East at Winnetka, Illinois and once worked as a truck driver. Appearing in dozens of films since 1980, Baldwin rose to prominence as the troubled outcast in My Bodyguard (1980), and moved on to bigger roles in D.C. Cab (1983), Full Metal Jacket, Independence Day (1996), Smoke Jumpers (1996) and Serenity (2005) — in which he reprises his role as the mercenary Jayne Cobb from the television series Firefly. His other work includes the movie Radio Flyer (1992), From the Earth to the Moon (1998), The X-Files, Men in Black: The Series, Stargate SG-1, The Inside, and Angel. His most recent work was in the 2005 remake of The Poseidon Adventure. Baldwin won the SyFy Genre Awards in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor/Television for his role as Jayne Cobb in the television series Firefly. Adam Baldwin is not related to the Baldwin brothers.

    Adam is an awesome actor and I was lucky enough to meet him last weekend. He's a really nice guy.. even though there was a huuuuge queue of people queuing for his autograph he still took the time to talk to everyone and shake their hands and everything. He didn't even have time to go for a meal, people had to bring one to him. He was really funny aswell, he was lovely.
