 Adam Baldwin Biography: Sci-fi cult actor Adam Baldwin was born February 27, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. Baldwin began his acting pursuit at New Trier Township High School East in Winnetka, Illinois. When Adam was a child, his father took him to the theater to see Westerns on a regular basis. This is where his love for film began and he's had a serious interest in acting since he was in the 5th grade.
Baldwin made his film debut in 1980 with the comedy/drama My Bodyguard, opposite Joan Cusack and Matt Dillon. He followed with a bit part in Ordinary People directed by Robert Redford. Baldwin quickly won more roles such as his starring turn in the action comedy D.C. Cab in 1983, with 80s icon Mr T. Adam found steady work throughout the remainder of the 80s. He was met with mediocre success with his role in the Stanley Kubrick film, Full Metal Jacket. Adam rode his success through the rest of the 80s and early 90s with film role after film role. His next success came in 1994 with Wyatt Earp, starring opposite to an all-star cast which included Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Gene Hackman, and Mark Harmon.
On his climb to fame, Baldwin partook in a wide variety of genres from the drama How to Make an American Quilt, starring Winona Ryder, Anne Bancroft, and Ellen Burstyn, to the action blockbuster Independence Day, with another all-star cast led by Will Smith, Bill Pullman, and Jeff Goldblum.
Already demonstrating a sucess for the sci-fi genre, Baldwin also appeared for a five-episode stint on the highly popular television series The X Files with leads Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. But it was his work the following year that proved his most memorable and influential for his career. Baldwin co-starred in the new Joss Whedon written, directed, and produced television series Firefly. Starrring along side Nathan Fillion and Summer Glau. Baldwin developed a fiercely loyal following. For his role as Jayne Cobb, Baldwin even won the SyFy Genre Award in 2006. To the shock and displeasure of the show’s fan base, Firefly was prematurely canceled, only running for a total of fourteen episodes. When the show went under in 2003, Baldwin kept busy as he always had, even doing Molly & Roni’s Dance Party as a favor for his friend Jamie Lee Curtis. In 2005, he tied up the loose ends of Firefly with the feature length film Serenity.
He has also appeared on numerous popular television series including Bones, with Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, and Day Break with Taye Diggs.
Adam currently stars as NSA agent John Casey on the NBC comedy-spy series Chuck.
