Reborn!
Alexander Skarsgård was born in Stockholm August 25, 1976.
He started his career as an actor when he was four years old at a small theater. In 1984 he got his first role in a film, Alexander played “Kalle Nubb” in the award-winning film “Åke and His World” by director / actor Allan Edwall.
New offerscame soon after the success of the film and within the next five years, Alexander played in more than ten feature films and TV productions.
1984 Alexander found that hewas emptied of much ofhis self-confidence. The media expected a grown man and not the teenager he still was. Alexander found it difficult to know how to act during an interview, it felt like he had to say what the journalists wanted to hear.
He decided to give up acting and focus on a new career, perhaps as a lawyer, doctor or pilot, anything but not an actor. Alexander began political studiesuntil 1995 and joined the Army in the mountains. In 1996, he was done in the military and moved to Leeds in the UK to study the next six months at Leeds Metropolitan University. He left school with a proficiency certificate.
With a new burst of self-esteem and a desire to see work as an actor again Alexander moved to New York to study theater at Marymount. When he returned to Sweden in 1998, he took a job at a cafe and took extra work as a model. Summer of 1998 Alexander was offered a role in Christina Olofsson’s film “Happy End”. He took the job and found that he was back in the same place he was ten years ago, but with one big difference, this time, he had confidence.
Since then, he played in four feature films, two mini-series and a TV series. 1999 Alexander was voted Sweden’s sexiest man of Aftonbladet’s readers. A title he won again a year later on Aftonbladet’s web site. He was flattered, of course, but does not want to be seen asjust a sex symbol. "Creating a character different from those you have in the past, that is what acting is about."

Christmas greetings from a fighter pilot…
I have just returned home to Stockholm after almost two months in Luleå. It was great to see family and friends, but at the same time I`ll miss Luleå, we had lots of fun up there. Every day we had some free time, we did fun things. We drove snowmobiles, shot clay pigeons (skeet), went cowboyriding and I even got to try to fly a fighter plane, what a dream!
Free days in Stockholm I just sat and hung out at the cafès on Söder or went for a walk in Vitabergsparken. I have decided to change all that from now on. Now I am going to try and take advantage of my free time so that I go to bed, one experience richer, every night.
The reason why I lived up in Luleå half of the autumn was because I played in a movie called “Hundtricket”. It`s a love comedy about a guy who dreams about falling in love and his friend who has a slightly different plan for how to make that happen. The filming has been really fun and I hope you`ll like it. “Hundtricket” will premiere after the summer.
Now I`m as I mentioned back in Stockholm and have planned to, besides all my enriching activities, bake lussebullar and look at the Christmas calendar. Before I answer any questions I just want to say that most of your questions have been answered in previous letters, so feel free to go in and read them. And then I hope that you understand that I can`t send personal replies to all of you, but have to restrict myself to answering the questions here in this newsletter.

Oh, there’s plenty. Ernst-Hugo Järegård, Keve Hjelm, Margareta Krook, Thommy Berggren, Göran Ragnerstam, to name a few …
Nathalie: The funniest thing you’ve done?
Steering a fighter plane at five thousand meters in altitude beats most of what I've done. Thank you all wonderful at F21 in Luleå!!!
Annika: What school did you go to?
I was in Södermalm School (1-6) Eriksdal School (7-9) and Aso (gymnasium)
Jompa: Where have you bought your three crowns jacket?
On Uff in Göteborg three years ago.
Daniel: How do you succeed as an actor?
There is never any guarantee in order to support oneself as an actor. But a good start is to acquire an education and experience by being in school plays, local groups and by going to auditions.
Linda: Can we start a fan club for you?

Eva: How old were you the first time you were in a movie?
I was seven when I did “Åke and his world”
I would like to apologize that updating the page has been so slow before. This is not because of laziness from any side, but that I personally do not possess the technical expertise to update myself but have been dependent on others. And the page is not bringing in any income so, everyone helps for free in their spare time …
Recently launched alexander-skarsgard.com a collaboration with Frida.se. Hopefully updates from now on will be a little more intense and the activity on the page will increase. There is already cooperation.

Do you remember our friend the sun?
Have counted and it was nineteen days since I last saw the sun. It can not be good for a human to live so long without sun light. When I`m out I feverishly look for the smallest sign of spring that can give a little hope that it may be, may be spring somewhere far in the future.
Don`t get me wrong! Real winter with snow, skating and hot chocolate is wonderful, but it`s this dark grey mud I can`t take. If you find anything positive about it, it would be the fact that we Swedes are the best in the world to take care of the little sun we get.
The frost is barely not gone before we rush out with blankets and ghetto blasters and crowd like herrings in the parks. Tourists probably think we're crazy, but they, on the other hand, have not lived nineteen days in grey mud. Do you remember our friend the sun?

Yes, competition is much harder there. It is particularly difficult ifyou’re a foreigner and don't speak fluent English. Then you most often play a German villain.

With the risk of sounding politically incorrect, I must say both. I have been interested in blondes, brunettes and redheads. I have no direct favourite color.

Nothing really. I make my living as an actor.

Not at all, it’s just flattering. It would indeed be sad if it was vice versa, if no one wanted it.

I likenatural girls best.If they’recute and charming they don't needlarge silicone breasts that the boys can look at.
Annica: Where did you buy the clothes in “Vingar av glas”?
They have Maria [costume person], who bought the costumes in the movie. Mostly from second hand stores in Stockholm.

Hello all Shipwrecked!
I have come to the realization that I was born in the wrong part of the country. Having recently spent a small magical weekend in Norrbotten. The sun was shining and the ice was still thick on the lakes. We drove a snowmobile from dawn to dusk and at night we sat in a heated wooden tub and drank cold beer under the twinkling stars and the most fanatic aurora you can imagine.
It was more than a weekend in Stockholm, where people sip watery lattes easily from dawn to dusk and then drag themselves over to the nearest bar.
So if there is anyone up there who wants to change a log cabin with a fireplace for a dull two room in Söder with the smell of watery cafe Lattes, please get in touch!

I would probably think that it was KalleNubb in “Åke and His World” because I was only seven years old and didn't think so much in terms of character, but did what the director said so that I could run away and eat cakes after.

I recently saw “Soldiers in the moonlight” again and there was Goran Ragnerstam totally fantastic, so it would probably be him.

Have absolutely nothing against Östermalm, have several friends who live there. But as I was born and raised in Söder, it is natural for me to mainly hang out there. Thanks also for the title "Södermalm King", thought it was Petter!

A Leonbergercalled Nelson. He is over twelve years, which is quite a lot for such a large breed.
Tove: Who would you like to be for a day?
I would like to be Sharon and I would give Arafat a wet kiss and then take him to the amusement park/carnival and eat cotton candy.

Yes, actually. If all goes as planned, I’ll direct a short film in early summer with a friend.

Strawberries for the people!
Hello all Capitalists and Bolsheviks! Hope spring has treated you well. Personally, I spent the whole of May in a dark rehearsal room, so it feels wonderful to be free a little bit now.
Just came back from Lysekil, where I recorded a short film called “To Kill a Child” based on a short story by Stig Dagerman. I'll try to get a little sun now, then sneak back into the studio to edit the film. I think we got really strong images, so even though I have to sit inside for a couple of weeks, I actually look forward to it.
If have time later, I have planned to go in the car around Sweden with some friends, some tips on things to see?

Difficult to answer, but “Hundtricket” that I did this fall was incredibly fun to record.
Maja: Any new films?
Yes, “Hundtricket” will premiere at the cinema this autumn. Apart form that, I’m workingin a playcalled “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” now. We will play at the Södra Theater throughout the autumn with the premiere September 20.
Cicci: Where do you go out in Stockholm?
Now in summer I hang out at in some of the outdoor restaurants on Söder.
Linda: Whenis your birthday?
August 25.
Josefine: Do you have a brother?
I have four younger brothers.
Barbie: Have you ever been dumped?
Yes, I have been dumped a number of times.
Sofia & Janni: What was it like before you became famous?
The sun went up in the morning and down at night and between those two I slipped around and turned gravel, just like now.
