
Anton Yelchin was born in Leningrad on March 11, 1989. His father, Viktor Yelchin, and his mother, Irina, were a successful pair of professional figure-skaters in Leningrad, and his grandfather was also a professional sportsman, a soccer player. Anton Yelchin was only a 6-month-old baby when he emigrated to the United States, were his parents eventually developed coaching careers. Young Anton Yelchin demonstrated his strong personality from the early age of 4, he declined his parent's tutelage in figure skating, because he was fond of acting, and he knew exactly what he wanted to do in his life. Since his school years, he attended acting class in Los Angeles, and eventually he was noticed by casting agents.
In 2000, at the age of 10, Yelchin made his debut on television, appearing as Robbie Edelstein in _ER: Be Still My Heart (2000 TV episode)_. At the age of 11,Anton Yelchin shot to fame as Bobby Garfield co-starring opposite Anthony Hopkins in Hearts in Atlantis (2001), and earning himself the 2002 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film as Leading Young Actor. He also appeared with Mika Boorem again in the film "Along came a Spider" which came out in the same year.
Over the next few years. Anton sought success in several television shows. These include "Curb your Enthusiam", in which he played a Cheryl David's nephew and a magician in training. He also starred as Byrd Huffstodt, the fourteen year-old son of Dr. Craig "Huff" Huffstodt on the televison show "Huff" which ran from 2004 - 2006. He also is well remembered for a guest spot on Criminal Intent.
In 2007,Anton Yelchin starred in Alpha Dog, a crime thriller that received a U.S.

release on January 12. In the film, he played Zack Mazursky, who is based on real-life kidnap and murder victim Nicholas Markowitz. He also appeared in the film Fierce People, alongside Kristen Stewart, Donald Sutherland and Diane Lane. The movie received a limited release on September, 7, 2007. Next up was one of Anton's most critically acclaimed movie, Charlie Bartlett. Anton played the lead role himself and starred alongside Kat Dennings, Robert Downey Jr and Hope Davis to name a few. This is the second time Hope Davis has played his mother, the first time being in Hearts in Atlantis. The movie was about a wealthy teenager, who gets kicked out of his private school for selling fake I.Ds. In his new school, he achieves popularity by becoming the school therapist to his classmates, hilarity ensues when he starts prescribing meds. The movie was released on February, 22, 2008. He then appeared in the small film Middle of Nowhere.
Most recently, Anton has become more famous thanks to high profile roles as Pavel Chekov in Star Trek and Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation.Star Trek earned high critical praise, gaining a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Anton Yelchin decided to carry on Walter Koenig's speech patterns of replacing "v"s with "w"s, although he and Abrams felt this was a trait more common of Polish accents than Russian ones. The movie was released on May, 8, 2009. Terminator Salvation was released on May, 21, 2009. Out of the two, Anton has said that he was a big Terminator fan when he was kid and even had a toy that made gelatin Terminators.
Currently Anton is working on his newest movie Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. And when not doing that, he is working with his band The Hammerheads.
