Antonio Banderas portrayal of El Mariachi follows the story of the original 1992 movie of the same name "El Mariachi".
El Mariachi was originally a travelling guitar player looking for a steady gig in Mexico City. He had once fallen in love with a girl named Domino, who had been killed by the same man who had his left hand shot. Being someone who makes money by playing the guitar, this event in his life was very devastating for him. Although his hand did heal and he is still able to play the guitar, he is no longer able to play like how he did before he got shot. Seeking revenge, he had become the gunslinger slash guitarist that people talked about. | Inspiration for character:
