    LUGOSI LIVES ETERNAL!
My favorite actor of all time. Though Dracula wasn't his best MADE film...he made it into a fine film merely because Lugosi IS Dracula-an unworldly, ephemral alien to humanity in the opening sequences. Too bad once the film relocated to London it turned into a stageplay.
My favorite roles ...the sadistic Dr.Vollin in the RAVEN,M.Legendre in the haunting WHITE ZOMBIE, Ygor in SON of FRANKENSTIEN,...and yes...as the mad Dr.Erik Vornoff in Ed Woods anti-classic BRIDE of the MONSTER.
No matter what z budget movie he was in (as in his PRC and Monogram fliks from the 40's or his Ed Wood years) Bela always-ALWAYS,gave it his all. I wish he could have lived long enough to see how much joy his films have brought to us. He is more than a movie star...or even a superstar. He is an icon. A legend. One of a kind. Think of Dracula...you don't think of Bram Stoker. You think of Bela's voice....

its funny b/c when i first heard of bela lugosi, i thought he was italian. i didnt know he was hungarian (or rumanian if youre talking in modern terms). he wasnt bad as igor in the frankenstein movies. i guess even if i see dracula, ill always think of the infamous count as igor :)

My favorite Lugosi performace is Dr. Vollin in "The Raven." He gives a wonderfully over the top performance as the Poe obsessed mad doctor. I also loved his turn as Ygor in "Son of Frankenstein." out to be.
