Archibald Leach was not like Cary Grant. Cary Grant was an idea that Archie Leach created and nurtured until his last days in cinema. Archie Leach was born from a working class background in England and would eventually be taken serious as a comic actor in the United States. Apparently it was unbelievable for a man so handsome to have a sense of humor. Well for my money Cary Grant is one of the greatest comic actors in history next to Chaplin and Keaton.

He had a presence and urbane sophistication that dared you to not take notice. For my money he will always be the greatest romantic male lead who leaves a towering legacy never to be repeated.

always underappreciated, always will be, cause he knew how to make everyone else look good...great even, a magic touch (so magical that it seemed that he himself was always doin' nothing, or that it was easy). c'mon...he's cary grant...he made a character so seamless that he lived it, couldn't find the difference between "grant" and archie leech (who's that?) if he tried! millions of movie fans can't be wrong--or they could be--but not this time.

As far as coolness and sauve character that you know that he could always handle just about any situation that came his way, and of course when it came to women, well Cary Grant always knew how to handle 'em, too!. . . He had his own unique charm and style that is still timeless today.
There always will be only one Cary Grant!. . . .

Absolutely fabulous actor. He was my biggest crush from a very young age as he had charisma, debonair and all around hunk.Loved his voice, eyes and definite chin cleft.
Who else could look hot even in his 60's doing romantic leading roles.
Sad as he died in my hometown unexpectedly before performing his one man show.
I was 12 at the time but was heartbroken that I didn't get to see him in person as it would have been a lifetime experience for me.

Cary Grant is the epitome of the classy, leading man. It's a shame most of today's movie-goers don't realize what a charming gem he still is.
