In 1997, she was appointed as the head of the Jury Council for the South East Asian Bienalle Film Festival in Cambodia. And became the member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002 along with David Lynch, Wharon Stone and Michelle Yeoh.

Christine Hakim made her grand debut in "sinetron" (Indonesian terms for television series, mini series and made-for-television movies) in 1997 with "Bukan Perempuan Biasa" ("Not An Ordinary Woman"). Despite earning critical acclaims and supportive public response for her performance in that 'sinetron', it took almost 4 years for her to return to television again in 2001, this time she blended into a strong ensemble cast of women in a mini-series called "Tiga Orang Perempuan" ("Three Women").
