 Colin Salmon One of Britain’s most renowned and recognisable actors, Colin Salmon has won international acclaim throughout a career that’s spanned both major Hollywood blockbusters and water-cooler TV.
Born in Luton in 1962, Colin was ranked in People magazine’s poll of 50 Most Beautiful People In The World in 1993, and is also governor of Apple’s notschool.net programme.
Despite his celebrity status, it’s his imposing physique and smooth acting style that has made Colin such a well-known figure all over the world.
His breakthrough role was in 1992’s Prime Suspect II; an award winning turn as DS Bob Oswalde. Since then Colin has starred in a steady stream of film and television productions – Soldier Soldier, Silent Witness, Judge John Deed, Hex, Bad Girls and Party Animals on television, and Bond films Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day (he was rumoured to be in the running to be the first black Bond when Pierce Brosnan left the franchise), Resident Evil, Alien vs. Predator and Woody Allen’s Match Point.
Colin completed a star turn in the latest series of Doctor Who and has also appeared in The No1 Ladies Detective Agency for the BBC/HBO. This was the last film to be directed by the acclaimed Anthony Minghella. Colin plays the lead character's ex husband and as a keen jazz trumpet player in real life, gets to perform in character in one of the film's big set pieces.
Colin is also busy with a number of new projects, including The Punisher: War Zone with Ray Stevenson and Dominic West, K with Tamer Hassan, The Best Years with Billy Boyd and Joss Ackland, and Man with the Football with Jason Issacs.
He will also be starring in the British film Clubbed, as head doorman Louis, which is released January 2009. The film also stars Maxine Peake and Mel Raido.
