DANIEL BRÜHL
Daniel César Martín Brühl González was born in Barcelona, Spain. He is the son of the German stage director Hanno Brühl and a Catalan professor mother. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Cologne, Germany, where he grew up. He was raised in a fully bilingual home. So he can speak both German and Spanish fluently as well as Catalan. Brühl recently separated from his long-time girlfriend, actress Jessica Schwarz, to whom he was engaged.
Firstly, Daniel Brühl became well known in Germany, through his performances in Das weisse Rauschen, Vaya con Dios and Elephantenherz, all of which won awards.
However, it was his role as Alexander Kerner in the comedy Good Bye, Lenin! which shot him to fame and brought acclaim from international audiences and critics alike.
Daniel followed up this film with a strong performance as a rebel disaffected with modern Western society in Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei (The Edukators).
Brühl was then offered (arguably) his first English-language part, playing the romantic lead as a Polish violinist in Ladies in Lavender opposite the great British acting legends Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
Daniel's place as a truly pan-European actor has been secured by his moving Spanish and Catalan-speaking performance in the title role of Salvador, a film which was nominated for no fewer than 11 Goyas in 2006. In June from the same year, he filmed Two Days in Paris, a romantic comedy film which was directed by French actress Julie Delpy who also stars in the film. And he also star in The Bourne Ultimatum as Martin Kreutz.
Daniel filmed Krabat, based on a popular German children's story, which premiere was released in German cinemas in 2008. Also during 2008, Daniel Brühl starred in the Anglo-Russian production In Tranzit where he plays a young Nazi soldier called Klaus opposite John Malkovich. And Daniel also filmed Un Poco de Chocolate, a Spanish production, in the same year.
Brühl's latest movies include: John Rabe and The Countess. After the release of Inglorious Basterds in 2009 which Brad Pitt also star in, Daniel has just finished filming Lila, Lila. Due to his talent, Brühl has been offered many projects and there are more three movies already announced to Daniel Brühl star in.
