David Duchovny mini-bio: David Duchovny earned an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and also earned a graduate degree in English Literature at Yale University. While at Yale, he began commuting to New York to study acting and was soon appearing in off-Broadway plays. In 1987 he abandoned his doctoral studies at Yale to pursue acting full time.

Writing is more than a hobby (he wrote or co-wrote half a dozen episodes of The X-Files.)He also has written award- winning poetry.

Charities/Causes Many.He recently appeared on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition to help to build a house for a person suffering from leukemia.

Other:David suffered an eye injury while playing basketball when he was twenty-seven.He was poked in the eye and the force ruptured a muscle and caused a cataract to develop.As a result he had to have the lens removed from his right eye and replaced by a synthetic one.He uses eye drops to keep the color right by allowing the correct amount of iris to show and keep the pupil from dilating too much. At his X-Files audition David wore a tie with pigs on it to show Mulder's independent personality and insubordination.Chris Carter made him change it.

David is a former vegetarian but still does not eat red meat.
