Touching on the poetic realist in all of us, David Gordon Green is a young man's Terence Malick, with all do respect. With his first three films being film in the deep South, Green has been able to peer past the kudzu and the twang and into soul, Southern-fried. A native of Arkansas and graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, Green saved the estimated $50,000 for "George Washington" and used principle non-professional actors (who were also kids). Gifted at writing unique dialogue, Green has found much success as a screenwriter and director, usually serving as both on his films.
