Born on February 21, 1987, Ellen Page has stormed Hollywood over the past few years and solidified herself as a force to be reckoned with. She is probably best known for her roles in Juno and Hard Candy, though has appeared in a number of films in the last 3 years.
Ellen was born as Ellen Philpotts-Page in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where she still currently lives. Her parents are Martha Philpotts and Dennis Page. She began acting at age 10 in the movie-turned-tv-series Pit Pony. She also recieved a Gemini nomination (Canada's equivalent to an Emmy) for her work.
For her role in Juno, Ellen won the breakthrough actress award from the National Board of Review, and nominations for the Oscars, Golden Globes and Independent Spirt Awards.
Often known as the "Tiny Canadian", Ellen is a huge fan of Patti Smith and her favorite actresses are Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster and Sissy Spacek. She also considers herself to be a feminist, and doesn't keep quiet when she's passionate about an issue.
Next up for Ellen is "Whip it" directed by Drew Barrymore. The movie is about a roller derby and is based on the book by Shauna Cross. Ellen will play Bliss Cavendar. Also Ellen will star in Peacock, a film about A train accident in rural Nebraska that gradually unveils a mystery involving the town's bank clerk.
