She made her feature film debut in the 1994 film It Could Happen to You. She has been gaining recognition as an actress and in October of 2004 she was named one of six actresses to watch by Interview Magazine.

In addition to starring in feature films, Deschanel has had several guest starring roles in television shows such as Crossing Jordan and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

As of 2005, Deschanel has been featured as the role of forensic anthroplogist Temperance Brennan in the FOX TV show Bones, based on the real life of forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs.

    Hey Emily,

    I absolutly love your show Bones. I also love you!!! Its the best Show ever. I have been watching the show from the beginning and will be watching it until the end. I can't wait for season 4!!! I can't believe Zach was working with Gormogon. I was shocked, my mouth was open for ten minutes. Alot of people were talking about it, the day after.

    I have seen or have about half of your movies and shows. That or I own them. They are the best movies ever. Most of them are on my ipod.

    Hopefully you will be in alot more movies and tv shows. I will definetly be looking out for it!!! I really hope to meet you one day. That would be really great!

    you're show is so good its my fav show and my sisters so now we watch it every time its on i live in australia so i just saw the episode where those kids go looking for a headless lady. did you get scared when the played the dead guys tape cause i did i mean who wouldn't everybody was screaming and runnig a round with blood on there faces.scary.
