In the Scene where Frankie(Patricia Arquette) attacks Father Andrew Kiernan in her appartment and the Male voice in English coming out from Frankie was Gabriel Byrnes.

Patricia Arquette`s character is named Frankie (short for Frances), similar to the name of the saint, Francis, whom we`re told by Gabriel Byrne`s Gabriel`s character was the first to receive the stigmata.
When Father Kiernan(Gabriel Byrne) comes in the Vatican office to get his new assigment, we can hear a bit of Italian speaking in the back between Cardinal Daniel Houseman(Jonathan Pryce) and another Priest. Translation: "Rest assured, none of this will never leave this room"

In the Australian town of Jindabyne, the former race champion Stewart Kane works in a gas station with his partners and friends Carl, Rocco and Billy. His impassionate marriage with the unstable Claire has an unresolved issue - Claire left him when their son Tom was born. The great passion of Stewart is fishing and he organizes a weekend fishing trip in a remote river with his three great friends. On Friday afternoon they park the car, hike and make camp. While fishing, Stewart finds the naked dead body of an aboriginal young woman floating on the cold water. Stewart ties the leg of the woman to an arbor and they spend the weekend fishing. On Sunday afternoon, they return to the parking area and report their finding to the police. When the press releases the information, their public and private lives are deeply affected and Claire questions Stewart's attitude while trying to help and apologizes to the family of the dead aborigine.

The screenplay is based on the short story "So much water so close to home" by American writer Raymond Carver. The song "Everything's Turning to White" by Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly was also inspired by Carver's story.
The 'P' plate that is taken by the murderer from the young girl's concealed vehicle, is one of Australia's provisional licence placards. A person who has just got their licence is on P plates for 3 years and have certain restrictions.

The idea for this movie started only with the concept of a movie poster of five of guys in a lineup.
Throughout the movie, 'fuck' and its derivatives are used 98 times.
In an interview (on the Special Edition DVD), 'Kevin Pollack' states that part of the reason for the hilarity during the line-up scene came from the fact that Benicio Del Toro, the now Academy Award winning actor, farted, like 12 takes in a row."
