He is currently solo and works with his band, Gacktjob. Gackt plays several musical instruments such as piano, guitar, drums, trombone, trumpet, bass, and tuba. Gackt claims to be able to speak French and English, however he is not very proficient. He can speak Chinese however, as seen in the movie Moonchild.

Gackt Camui's Mini-Biography

Let's get down to it.
At first, Gackt was no actor. He was a musician. Since his father was one too, Gackt was forced into piano training at the age of 3.
At first he loved his teacher, and in the same time, the instrument she taught him.
But later, at 7 years old, the tought of "They MADE me do it!" started sinking in.
So he started, little by little, to try and make his teacher hate him.
At 11 years old, he finally made his teacher quit and got rid of his courses.

But him staying away from music didn't last long. Three years later he, met a boy at his school. They became friends, and all, and one day, the boy wanted to show him his skills at... piano. Looking at his friend while he was playing, little Gackt felt the urge to get back to that instrument, and to become even greater.

He started practicing alone, always, like a madman, because he couldn't bare the fact that his little friend was better than him. Then, at the same time, he fell in love with classical european music. He learned all brass instrument he could.

At that time, his father loved japanese classical music. Enka. Because he was conditonned to hear it, Gackt was just sick of it, hated it. But that was almost the only thing he could ever hear, because he only was allowed to watch cultural channels on TV.
So Gackt had never ever heard of rock.

Until one day, at school, in his music course, someone played drums.
He immediatly got attracted to it. From then, things went off very fast.

Gackt joined a band as a drummer, then quit because he didn't seem to like it anymore.
He was urging for people who wanted to gro pro, just as him. That's when he met You, a guitar player who seemed in fire onstrage, but all shy and silent in his everyday life...
They started looking for a singer... But didn't find any.

So, joking, Gackt told You he could do it. His friend answered that he couldn't.
That made the 19 years old boy angry, and he started practicing some songs.
One week later, he sang in front of You, who was just shocked.
That was the birth of Cain's Feel, Gackt's first band.

That made Gackt what he is these days around, a singer.

Since he wasn't getting anywhere with that band, he quit again. In 1995, he met with Mana, leader of the Visual Kei band Malice Mizer. Because he liked the personality of each member, he joined. He became the singer, songwriter and played the piano...again.

Then, after a huge success, mister Gackt Camui decided that he was to write the lyrics AND the music of the songs. The band didn't agree, and up until now, we don't know if either he had left or got kicked out.

Starting in 1999 with the single Mizérable and his everlasting huge success Vanilla, Gackt busted out in a solo carreer he's been carrying on ever since. 28 singles, countless b-sides, 8 albums, six enormous live tours with countless representations. Known to be one of the hottest men in Asia, he was the model for a lot of characters in Final Fantasy. However, only one is official : Genesis.
His voice is considered so beautiful they made the Gackpoid, weird sequel of the vocalpoid that let you make japanese songs with his voice...

Gackt wrote the synopsis from the only movie he played in, Moon Child.
Next is Hollywood, with Bunraku, which will be out in 2009.

In his recent activities, Gackt has the fiming of the movie I just mentionned done, and a Live Tour (Requiem and Reminiscence II)of 57 performances all over Japan to promote his upcoming album.
