That film established a new type of hero in the French cinema and the actor's popularity grew enormously. Later he diversified his screen image and became the leading French actor of the 80s and 90s. He was twice awarded a C?sar as Best Actor for Dernier m?tro, Le (1980) and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), received also an Oscar nomination for 'Cyrano' and a number of awards at international film festivals. In 1996 he was distinguished by the highest French title of 'Chevalier du L?gion d'Honneur'. He is married to Elisabeth Depardieu, who appeared with him in Jean de Florette (1986), and has a daughter and a son, Guillaume Depardieu, also an actor.

    Yes he is an exelent actor, but this filmography is incomplete, there is one film that he mades with Roman Polansky named "Una pura formalità" directed by Giuseppe Tornatore that is simply magnifique, i promess.

    Well, maybe not much's been said about him.... but all I can say is that I simply adore him!! I could just watch his movies all year long for his acting is superb, and... (this may make you laugh) I would just love to nibble on his nose. He's my "ideal" man! He is the cutest man on earth!!!!
