Harpo Marx mini-bio: One of the famous Marx Brothers, appeared in movies such as "The Cocoanuts",
"Animal Crackers", "Horse Feathers", "Duck Soup". Birth name Adolph Marx, but later
legally changed the name to Arthur. He played a mute who communicated with zany
pantomime, whistling and using a bike horn! He was a very good, self-taught harpist.
Harpo died september 28, 1964 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
True story . . . My grandma's sister married a guy named Don Loomis who was physical trainer to all the stars. While my grandma was staying with them in Hollywood, Harpo came to the house to train with Don. Harpo was quite taken with Grandma and asked her on a date. She said no! I always think it so funny that she was one of the few ordinary people who ever heard him speak . . . and that if she had said yes, I could have had a very interesting grandfather!
