He was a lackluster student at Maine Township High School East in Park Ridge Illinois (no athletic star, never above a C average). A member of the class of 60' at Maine Township High School East, he participated in few sports or theatrics and wasn't exactly a dream date. He then went to Ripon College in Wisconsin and was expelled from there a couple of weeks before graduation because he was not getting very good grades. He then did some acting and later summer stock, he signed a Hollywood contract with Columbia and later Universal.
His roles in movies and TV ("Ironside" (1967), "The Virginian" (1962)) remained secondary and, discouraged, he turned to a career in professional carpentry. He came back big four years later, however, as Bob Falfa in American Graffiti (1973). Four years after that he hit colossal with the role of Han Solo in Star Wars (1977). Another four years and Ford was Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
Four years later and he received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his role as John Book in Witness (1985). Harrison Ford was also Golden Globe nominated for his parts in The Mosquito Coast (1986),The Fugitive (1993) and Sabrina (1995). He played Indiana Jones again, for the third time, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). He took over from Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan in Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994). He starred as President James Marshall in the action movie Air Force One (1997). He reprised his role of Indiana Jones for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).
His talent for romantic comedy was seen in Working Girl (1989), Sabrina (1995) and Six Days, Seven Nights (1998). He has also played in several dramatic roles including Witness (1985), The Mosquito Coast (1986), Presumed Innocent (1990), Regarding Henry (1991) and Random Hearts (1999). He can also be seen in the blockbuster horror movie What Lies Beneath (2000). He is clearly a well established Hollywood superstar. He also maintains an 800 acre ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
