He made his motion picture debut in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness as the son of his father's character, Chris Gardner. Claudia Puig of USA Today claimed that he seems to have "inherited [Will's]] easy charm" and that "he reveals an acting finesse that many far older actors don't manage."

I was BLOWN AWAY by Jaden's performance. Just the focus and raw emotion he showed in the film, was amazing. Especially from a 9 year old! Happy Birthday on Sunday!
