Off topic, I always refer to his as James Cagney rather than Jimmy Cagney. Being a Michael, I only let friends, family and close acquaintences (including work) refer to me as Mike. There's always been a large dichotomy between men's use of their given name vs. their nickname -- outside of Bill Clinton and Abe Lincoln, I cannot name another president who has gone by a nickname.

But anyways, I've seen many, many of his movies, including the one choregraphed by Busby Berkeley ("Footlight Parade") and was introduced to the incredible range of talent this man possessed. He was typecast as a gangster much, which he played to the T (Public Enemy is a great* movie), but I wish there were more films showcasing his talent as a singer and dancer...because he's arguably the last person I would have expected to see in that movie.

I'd be delighted to be the first to comment on the wonderful Jimmy Cagney.
My personal fav has to be 'Yankee Doodle Dandy'
I must say too that I enjoyed his 'gangster movies' as well. Just can't remember the names... lol
But I'll never forget the prison lunch scene when he learns that his mother had died and no one told him.
