Spencer has played the
violin since the age of ten and also plays the
guitar and
piano. He has two brothers, Tarney (an oculo-plastic surgeon) and Luke (an orthopaedic surgeon), and a sister, Polly (currently an intern in medicine). His parents Robyn and Rodney Spencer are the founders of the
Australians Against Further Immigration political party and have run several times as candidates in federal and state elections. Spencer attended
Canterbury Primary School,
Malvern Central School and
Scotch College. Whilst at Scotch he auditioned for the long-running
soap opera,
Neighbours. He continued to work toward his
VCE qualification whilst working on the show and graduated in 1997.

Jesse Spencer mini-bio: Jesse Spencer was educated at Malvern Central School and Scotch College. Jesse was offered a place to study medicine at Melbourne University but he deferred it to pursue a career in acting. He is better known in Australia and the UK as Billy Kennedy in the Australian TV show Neighbors, a role he played from 1994 to 2000. He is currently co-staring in House as Dr. Robert Chase. Jesse has appeared in many films including Uptown Girls, Swimming Upstream and Flourish.
