I broke in to tears the day I heard he died. He stole our hearts with his Sense of Humor and his Funny Movies. We will never forget him.

Never got bored watching him as *ERNEST* laugh my ass off watching the Repeats
His final movie, "Ernest the Pirate" (2000) had nearly completed shooting at the time of his death. For that reason, it got canceled, and was never released on VHS, DVD, or as part of an "Ernest" box set on anything.
R.I.P. Jim.

Ernest is my "guilty pleasure". Jim Varney's character was just as good as many, indeed better then some, of the classic comedy characters from the 1930's and 1940's.
Another good performance by Jim is the Billy Bob Thornton sleeper "Daddy and Them" with John Prine.posted 1043 days ago
