Joe Flanigan mini-bio: Joe Flanigan is an American television actor who has had guest roles in numerous television series, including Profiler, First Monday and Sisters. He is currently starring in Stargate Atlantis.
Joe Flanigan grew up on a small ranch near Reno, Nevada in the United States. From the age of 14 he attended a boarding school in Ojai, California where he appeared in the school's production of A Streetcar Named Desire. He later attended the University of Colorado where majored in history and appeared in Coriolanus. He spent a year studying at the Sorbonne in Paris.
After graduation he pursued a writing career, working briefly for several New York City magazines. On the advice of some of his friends he studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse, was coached by Gerald Gordon, and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting as a career.
His current role on Stargate Atlantis is Lt. Colonel John Sheppard who leads a military force attached to the Atlantis Expedition. He has relocated his family to Vancouver, Canada, where the series is filmed. He also wrote the story for "Epiphany", a second season episode of Stargate Atlantis.
Flanigan is married to Katherine Kousi, a former actress turned painter who has recently returned to acting, since 1996 and has three young sons, Aidan, Truman and Fergus.

hey, i am a very big stargate fan!! and i just LOVE joe flanigan!! i love his charictor too, i enjoy watching the show all the time: stargate SG-1 and Atlantis!! i love shepperd and weir and everybody else espesially all the funny things they always say and the sarcasm and ofcourse the action!!! i just wanto say that he is a very graet actor(and also VERY cute!!)

o and yes before i forget: you guys DO know that joe flanigan doesn't reply right?! cause some of you seem to think that he does. i just wanted you to knpw that

Joe Flanigan is my favorite actor because i think he does a really good job on Stargate Atlantis and i can image him being the new leader of Atlantis but colonel carter i think well do a great job.And Joe i think is the best actor in the Scifi business so he is the best and every friday me and my friends get together and watch it every friday on scifi.

Joe is super cool on the show. John and Rodney are my two fave characters. They are so funny together I love the bantering between the two characters it is so funny.

hey i figure your probably to busy to read these but what the hey it's worth a shot. I think you are a amazing actor you seem to have a nack for it. not to menshion my favorite character on atlantis:P. But I respect the fact that you have a family but you still find the time to act and have a family life i respect that.
