Also, there were "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Bluebeard", not to mention countless others. BTW, anyone else heard of this story? I thought it was pretty funny:

Great character actor. Star of stage, screen, and television. A distinguished, handsome, slender actor with a wonderful bass voice, John Carradine was the father of David and Robert Carradine. One great early movie role was as the gambler-gunfighter "Hatfield" (clearly based in the movie on John H. "Doc" Holliday) in John Ford's epic "Stagecoach" (1939) with John Wayne and Claire Trevor. Later, during the 1940s, he was a staple at Universal Pictures, playing in horror roles with Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Claude Rains and others, typically as Dracula in films like "House of Frankenstein" and "House of Dracula".
