 John Cusack is an active film actor, producer and writer. His father Dick Cusack, as well as his three sisters Ann, Susie, and Joan, and as his brother Bill, all of them have also been actors, some of the still are. Cusack began acting in childhood. He attended the Piven Theatre Workshop in Chicago and he did many voice-overs for commercials and appeared in some stage productions by the age of 12. His first film was the comedy Class in 1983, at the age of 17. In 1988, he founded a theatre group ("The New Criminals") for which he has directed several productions. He frequently appears in films with members of his family (particularly his older sister, Joan) and with his long-time best friend Jeremy Piven.

- In 1999, Cusack starred in the dark comedy BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, which garnered him an Independent Spirit Award Nomination in the category of Best Actor.
- In 2000 plays in HIGH FIDELITY the role of a record store owner.
- In 2001, is nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in the feature version of Nick Hornby’s novel HIGH FIDELITY.

- In 2002, Cusack starred in the controversial film, MAX, directed by Menno Meyjes, as Max Rothman, an elegant, sophisticated former cavalry officer who returns to his native Munich to set up an art gallery and meets another aspiring artist, a young Adolf Hitler (Noah Taylor).
- In 2003, Cusack joined Amanda Peet, Alfred Molina and Ray Liotta in the thriller IDENTITY.
- In 2004 in RUNAWAY JURY, he starred opposite Hollywood Legends Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman in a film based on a John Grisham’s best selling novel with the same title.
- In 2005, Cusack starred opposite Billy Bob Thornton in the dark comedy THE ICE HARVEST, based on a Scott Philips novel.
- In 2006, John played along Morgan Freeman in the Thriller/Drama THE CONTRACT. He plays a father who wants to redeem himself in the eyes of his son by trying to bring Carden, a world-class assassin to justice. --- Every Killer Meets His Equal. ---
- In 2007, Cusack starred in GRACE IS GONE, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was recognized with the “Audience Award”. Later, stars again with Amanda Peet, Oliver Pratt and her sister, Joan Cusack, in the romantic comedy MARTIAN CHILD written by Seth Bass and Jonathan Tolins.
Overall, the biggest release of the year remains the Horror/Thriller 1408, based on Stephen King novel with the same name. John Cusack co-starred with Samuel Jackson, Mary McCormack and Jasmine Jessica Anthony in the movie that brought 3 nominations for “Best Horror” and Teen Choice Award for Jasmine Jessica Anthony – “Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actress”. "Nobody lasts more than an hour" - In 2008 he played the role of Brand Hauser, a hit man sent to kill the Middle East oil minister, in the Thriller/Action WAR, INC. Cusack will also voice the title character of IGOR in Exodus Film Group's animated comedy.
- Now, Cusack is currently shooting 2012 in Vancouver for director Roland Emmerich, and recently completed filming Shanghai.
