Dr. Robert Young: I know Walter Baylor intimately.
Meredith Modess: Really? Well, did you know he was going to kill Milt?
Dr. Robert Young: Yes.
Meredith Modess: Then why didn't you try to stop him?
Dr. Robert Young: I couldn't find a parking spot.

Hubert Downs: Let me handle this. Hey, Walter, listen, you're making a big deal out of nothing. You're not unique, you know. Everyone in class had sex with your sister.

Jack Butler: My brain is like oatmeal. I yelled at Kenny today for coloring outside the lines! Megan and I are starting to watch the same TV shows, and I'm liking them! I'm losing it.
Caroline: Honey, I know what you're talking about. I've been there myself, alright?
Jack Butler: Well, if you're so unhappy, why don't you say something about it?
Caroline: Because I wasn't unhappy! Look, maybe I was a little confused, maybe I was a little frustrated, but I knew what I was doing was important, because it means something to raise human beings. What saw me through was pride.
[Jack takes the bedspread, pillow and a pizza slice before heading out]
Caroline: I've pride in this house, I've pride with my kids, and I've pride being Mrs. Jack Butler! Where are you going?
Jack Butler: [Eating pizza before going] I'm goin' downstairs to sleep on the fat couch if I can get through the door.
[Jack leaves the room]
Caroline: Well, you should take pride with some of that FAT, Porky!
[Caroline slams the door]

Doris (TV Repairwoman): Butler, you got a problem with your horizontal hold?
Jack Butler: I don't know.
Doris (TV Repairwoman): Your wife says you do.

Quote(s)
:
Ellen Griswold: [after the bartender shoots at Clark] Clark, I don't think that was funny. A loud noise like that could damage the kids' hearing.
Clark Griswald: C'mon, Ellen. It looked real. Hell - I thought it was a real gun. Didn't you think it was real, honey?
Audrey Griswold: What?
Clark Griswald: I said didn't you think it was real?
Audrey Griswold: What?
Ellen Griswold: Oh are you happy now Clark? She's deaf.
Clark Griswald: Oh what the hell - it was fun anyway.

Cousin Eddie: I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?
Clark: You're the gourmet around here, Eddie.

[after driving off the road]
Ellen Griswold: I think I broke my nose.
Rusty Griswold: I stabbed my brain.
Audrey Griswold: I just got my period.

Lumberjack: What's your last name?
Long Duk Dong: Dong.
Lumberjack: What's your first name?
Long Duk Dong: Long.
Lumberjack: What's your middle name?
Long Duk Dong: Duk.

The Geek: So, what's your story? I mean, you got a guy, or...?
Samantha: Yes, three big ones, and they lust wimp blood so quit bugging me or I'll sic them all over your weenie ass.

Randy: [Samantha has filled out an "anonymous" sex quiz naming her crush, which has fallen into unknown hands] Jake Ryan? He doesn't even know you exist.
Samantha: Thank you, that's a very nice thing to say.
Randy: I'm sorry, but Jake Ryan? He's a senior, and he's taken. I mean really taken.
Samantha: I know. He's supposed to be my ideal.
Randy: He's ideal for sure, but forget it.
Samantha: God, I hope whoever got that note doesn't know it was me who wrote it. I'd **** twice and die.

John Hughes Quotes

Advertising was fairly simple work, and I really just wanted a job where I could sit and write every day and not get fired for it like I had at other jobs, but it was fun.

Fantastic! Right in the middle of that long stretch between Christmas and Spring Break, your coats are getting dirty, everything's dark, dingy - what a great time for a movie!

I always preferred to hang out with the outcasts, 'cause they were cooler; they had better taste in music, for one thing, I guess because they had more time to develop one with the lack of social interaction they had!

I don't consider myself qualified to do a movie about international intrigue - I seldom leave the country.

I find that screen kissing wears very thin very quickly.

I like young actors because they're so unspoiled, not like some of those actors who are about half an hour into their fifteen minutes of fame by the time they get to me.

I so desperately hate to end these movies that the first thing I do when I'm done is write another one. Then I don't feel sad about having to leave and everybody going away.

I was obsessed with romance. When I was in high school, I saw Doctor Zhivago every day from the day it opened until the day it left the theater.

I'm a former hippie, so clothes are important to me - your clothes defined you in that period. I guess clothes still defines people. But, I change a lot. I'm in my Brooks Brothers period now.

It's been about ten years since I've worked with actors who knew their lines!

It's like being at the kids' table at Thanksgiving - you can put your elbows on it, you don't have to talk politics... no matter how old I get, there's always a part of me that's sitting there.

My generation had to be taken seriously because we were stopping things and burning things. We were able to initiate change, because we had such vast numbers. We were part of the baby boom, and when we moved, everything moved with us.

My heroes were Dylan, John Lennon and Picasso, because they each moved their particular medium forward, and when they got to the point where they were comfortable, they always moved on.

When I go to a concert, I can't believe that people pay lots of money to see a band that they obviously like and then they dance the whole time.

Why watch someone kissing when people really close their eyes when they kiss?

Quotes About John Hughes
Quote:"He's very vulnerable. And I think he likes to write about young people because that's a real part of him. There's something open about him. There's something childlike about him. He likes to play. He likes to laugh."
Who said/wrote it:ally sheedy

Quote:"I was a fan of both his work and a fan of him as a person," . "The world has lost not only a quintessential filmmaker whose influence will be felt for generations, but a great and decent man.
Who said/wrote it:Macaulay Culkin

Quote:"I think the reason why I like working with John is that he really understands kids because he genuinely likes young people. He doesn't condescend to them. He treats us not like adults or kids, just as a person. He writes about kids in a really intelligent way. And he's a good person."

I was stunned and incredibly sad to hear about the death of John Hughes. He was and will always be such an important part of my life.
Who said/wrote it:molly ringwald

Who said/wrote it:bill paxton

Who said/wrote it:kevin smith

Quote:(Fields revealing that she once spoke to the director on the phone in 1997, several years after Hughes made his final film as a director, 1991's Curly Sue.)

"We talked for an hour. It was the most wonderful phone call. It was the saddest phone call. It was a phone call I will never forget,"
"John told me about why he left Hollywood just a few years earlier. He was terrified of the impact it was having on his sons; he was scared it was going to cause them to lose perspective on what was important and what happiness meant. And he told me a sad story about how, a big reason behind his decision to give it all up was that "they" (Hollywood) had "killed" his friend, John Candy, by greedily working him too hard.
"Tonight, when I heard the news that John had died, I cried. I cried hard. (And I'm crying again.) I cried for a man who loved his friends, who loved his family, who loved to write and for a man who took the time to make a little girl believe that, if she had something to say, someone would listen.

Who said/wrote it:actor Ben Stein

Quote:On the set, Hughes did not conceal his enthusiasm about your work, as some directors feel they must. I have worked on some comedy films where the director was the least funny person on the set. Hughes was funny
