Jon Bernthal attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He then studied at The Moscow Art Theatre School in Russia, where he also played baseball in the European Professional Baseball Federat...( read more)ion. While in Moscow, he was noticed by the director of Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at the American Repertory Theatre and was invited to obtain his Master’s in Fine Arts, where he graduated in 2002.
His stage credits include the Off-Broadway production of "The 5th of July" at New York's Signature Theatre, the Off-Off-Broadway production of "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," "Proof" at the Portland Stage Company and “This Is Our Youth” at the Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C. He has performed in more than 20 plays regionally and Off-Broadway, including many with his own theater company Fovea Floods.
He stars in the feature film DAY ZERO and can also be seen in THE AIR I BREATHE (both of which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival). He also played “Christopher Amoroso” in Oliver Stone’s WORLD TRADE CENTER, and starred in MARY/MARY, and TONY & TINA’S WEDDING.
Jon is currently shooting the HBO miniseries “The Pacific” for producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks in Australia. Previously, Jon was a series regular on the CBS sitcom “The Class,” playing the role of “Duncan Carmello.” He has also done guest stars on “How I Met Your Mother,” "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Boston Legal," "Johnny Zero," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Without A Trace," and "CSI: Miami.” Born and raised in Washington D.C, Jon currently lives in Venice, CA.
