"I think that ultimately I just have to be myself. You know, I don't do anything that outlandish anyway."
~ Julia Stiles
Born March 28, 1981 as Julia O'Hara Stiles, Julia has had quite the list of movie roles in her filmography reel, but is probably most known for her character roles for the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, Save The Last Dance, and as her role as Nicky Parsons in the Bourne trilogy films. Family and Early Life: Born from Judith Stiles and John O'Hara. She is of Irish, Italian and English ancestry but was born and raised in New York City. Julia Stiles also has two other siblings. Careers: She got the acting bug at age eleven, joining the La Mama Theater company, but was encouraged to take modern dance at an early age and was introduced to Shakespeare.
Julia has appeared in a few Shakespeare film adaptations: 10 Things I Hate About You, which is is a spin on Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew"; O, which is a spin on Shakespeare's "Othello", and also appeared in an updated version of Hamlet.
In the 2004 movie, The Prince and Me, she plays the role Paige, a working student who excels in everything but Shakespeare, which is a bit funny because her character goes on debating with the Prince, that Shakespeare and poems are useless in the real world, and how much she cant understand them, but in reality loves them to bits. Private Life: In 2000, Julia temporarily interrupted her acting career to pursue her studies at the Columbia University. She graduated in 2005 and had majored a degree in English.
Stiles is also an active humanitarian supporter. After her work in Save the Last Dance (2001), she had taken part in building the housing project in Costa Rica thru working with the Habitat for Humanity organization. She had also worked hand in hand with Amnesty International to try and raise awareness of the harsh conditions that illegal unaccompanied juvenile youths get in immigration detention centers. She also serves the Board of Directors of the nonprofit organization Amend.org (2005), which is based in New York, and attends its annual meetings for the discussion and review of the organizations missions and plans for the upcomming year.
