"I`m always happier and a better actor when I can really lose myself in a character and become somebody else."
Kevin Bacon Mini-Bio: Kevin Norwood Bacon, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1958, is one of the foremost actors of his generation, having proven his talents in a wide range of film genres from action thrillers to romantic comedies to heavy dramas and even the occasional musical. His talent for balancing starring roles with powerful supporting characters has allowed him to build a varied and critically acclaimed body of work.
With the support of his parents, Bacon left his native Philadelphia to become the youngest student at Circle in the Square Theatre in New York where he studied until he made his film debut as Chip in National Lampoon's Animal House. This led to roles in Diner and Footloose. It was 1984's Footloose that brought Bacon his breakthrough role. As the big-city boy crusading against the puritanical constraints against dancing imposed by a well-meaning but overbearing fundamentalist minister, Kevin became a teen icon - an image that, though it propelled him to stardom, would prove difficult to shed.
Following Footloose's success with a series of curious failures such as Quicksilver (1986) and White Water Summer (1987), it was on the set of Lemon Sky (1987) that Kevin Bacon would meet future wife Kyra Sedgwick; the couple exchanged wedding vows the following year.
Aside from acting, Kevin is a musician. With his older, musician brother Michael, Kevin is the other half of “The Bacon Brothers,” a successful band with a sound that Kevin describes as “Forosoco” ( which is the title of their first album)--Folk, Rock, Soul and Country. Already highly regarded and hugely successful on the national club circuit, they have recorded 4 CD’s and a concert DVD.

I've lived in New York since I was 17 and don't see myself moving back to Philly, but I will always go back there. It's an interesting place to explore and you can't compare it to other cities. It's unique."
Eco-Friendly Traveler: "I walk at least 40 blocks every day and use public transportation. When I go to Philly, I don't drive. Why would I want to get into a car and sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic when I can take the train to downtown Philly?"
