Character back story: Rayne is a breed of human and vampire called Dhampir. They are unaffected by crucifixes and do not thirst for human blood. She is the daughter of the Vampire King Kagan. She was conceived when Kagan raped her mother, and she later witnessed him kill her. When the Brimstone Society, who fight vampires, hear of the Dhampir, they plan to recruit her in order to kill Kagan.
Inspiration for character: Based on the character from the video games, BloodRayne and BloodRayne 2, who was based on another character, Svetlana Lupescu from the game Nocturne.
Age: Unspecified, but the video game character was very young, about 17 years old, when she began hunting vampires.

Character back story: Jane Vasco is a former DEA agent whose life was changed after contact with a neuro during a mission. She meets Andre McBride, the leader of a Black Ops team working for an unspecified government agency. She is forced to join the team after she probes too far into their operations. During her first mission Jane discovers that she has recuperative powers bordering on invulnerability when she is pushed through a fortieth story window to her apparent death, only to later revive and recover completely.
Inspiration for character: Based on a character from the comic book of the same name.
Occupation: Black Ops, hunting people with superhuman abilities.

Inspiration for character: Based on the character from Richard Wagner's opera Der Ring des Nibelungen; and Nibelungenlied, a germanic epic poem. Possibly inspired by the Visigothic princess Brunhilda of Austrasia.
Occupation: Queen of Iceland and later Burgund.
