Lon Chaney Jr mini-bio: Lon Chaney, Jr. (February 10, 1906 – July 12, 1973) has entertained millions of people for over seventy years
and counting. He gave many memorable performances and worked with many great
actors. He enjoyed his chosen profession of acting and witnessed a complete
evolution in the entertainment industry. Similar to his father, he was a man
of many faces and characterizations. And like him, overcame many of life's
obstacles leaving his own unique mark on the entertainment industry. Only
more recently, with the video revolution is his complete body of work being
fully appreciated.
my favorite lon chaney movies are 'ghost of frankenstein' (he played the monster, remarkably well, i might add) and 'house of frankenstein'(he resumed the role of the wolfman). with regards to 'house of frankenstein' svengoolie (the show which featured the movie) made a funny comment about larry talbot's werewolf transformation-"mirror mirror oh so classy, who looks just like that dog lassie?". i was laughing so hard when i heard that, but it must have been hell for lon to wear that furry wolf mask cuz as we all know, stuff from 1940 is old and by today's standards-toxic! i know karloff had issues with the frankenstein monster makeup, and i wonder if lon did too.
