She has also starred in several movies including, Sunset Park, High School High, The Wood and recently the Outkast produced movie, Idlewild. Malinda's most notable role was starring in the Showtime series "Soul Food" as the younger sister, Bird. In 2003 and 2004, Malinda was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Soul Food.
