During this year's International Film Festival Rotterdam Kobayashi Masahiro will be one of the filmmakers in focus.

After a career as a folk singer and scenario writer KOBAYASHI Masahiro (1954, Tokyo, Japan) directed his feature début Closing Time in 1996. He became the first Japanese director to win the Grand Prix at Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in 1997. After that he established the film production company Monkey Town Productions. His films have been screened in Cannes and other festivals and brought him international attention.
