He has twice won the Best Actor award in the Grande Prêmio Cinema Brasil (Great Award Brazilian Cinema), for his roles in Midnight (1998) and O Auto da Compadecida (2000). He also won the Best Actor award for Amarelo Manga at XIII Cine Ceará (XIII Festival of Cinema of Ceará) in 2003.
