Maxine Peake mini-bio: RADA-trained Maxine Peake is one of the UK's outstanding young actresses, and already has an impressive television drama CV behind her.

Born in Westhoughton, near Bolton, in 1974, Maxine attended the local Westhoughton High School and began to get involved in the Octagon Youth Theatre club at the age of 13.

After training at RADA, Maxine got her first big break in the Victoria Wood sitcom, Dinner Ladies, then went on to star in Craig Cash’s sitcom Early Doors and play the mouthy Veronica in Channel 4’s hit comedy drama series Shameless.

She made her professional stage debut at the Bolton Octagon in 1998's "Early One Morning".

In January 2009, she will debut in her first major role in a feature film, which is called Clubbed. She plays a character called Angela, alongside actors Colin Salmon and Mel Raido.
