
Michael Beck was born on February 4, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the third out of nine children. He attended Memphis University on a football scholarship. When he finished University, he was accepted into London's Central School for Speech and Drama. He started off doing stage plays such as Camelot and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Michael is well known for his role as Swan in the 1979 movie "The Warriors" , Sonny Malone in "Xanadu", and as Lieutenant-Commander Dallas in "Megaforce".
Michael starred in a short-lived television series "Houston Knights". Michael has narrated numerous audiobooks of John Grisham's novels.
Michael Beck lives in California with his songwriter-wife Cari (they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in September 2005), and with their two children: daughter Ashley and son Jesse. According to Michael, neither of his kids acts or plays football.
It has been announced that he will play Swan again in the remake of The Warriors, to be released in 2010.
