He has appeared frequently in his SPINAL TAP co-star Christopher Guest’s movies, including THE BIG PICTURE, BEST IN SHOW, FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, and A MIGHTY WIND. For the latter film, he co-wrote the songs “A Mighty Wind” (Grammy winner), and “A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow” with his wife actress Annette O’Toole, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song.

Among McKean’s numerous film credits are THE PRODUCERS, AUTO FOCUS, THE GURU, LITTLE NICKY, TEACHING MRS. TINGLE, MYSTERY, ALASKA, TRUE CRIME, THE BRADY BUNCH, RADIOLAND MURDERS, MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN, PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES, and USED CARS. His TV appearances include “The Simpsons,” “Law & Order,” “Family Guy,” “The X-Files,” “Primetime Glick,” “Smallville,” and “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” McKean’s stage credits include “Hairspray,” “The Pajama Gama,” “The Homecoming,” and recently, “Superior Donuts.” McKean is about to embark on a 30-city U.S. concert tour, “Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer.”
