He was the second son of Edith Amelia and James Alexander Cumming Rennie they named him Eric Alexander his father was a mill owner
Mike was 6ft 4ins tall he had piecing green eyes and jet black hair he was educated at St Aidans School in Harrogate prep school Oatlands also in Harrogate then The Leys School in Cambridge finally Cauis College in Cambridge where in 1931 he graduated with a B A
He passed away on Thursday 10th June 1971 suffering a dissecting ruptured aneyrism of the abdomial aorta he is laid to rest with his parents in Harlow Hill Cemetery Otley road Harrogate grave 21 section f

After a career in British films he left England for Hollywood in 1950
Returning to England in 1959 to play Harry Lime which forever made him Third Man Rennie

He passed away at his Mothers home 1A Otley Harrogate on June 10th 1971 and is laid to rest in Hsrlow Hill Cemetery with his parents
