Before Christianity settled over Britain, the people worshipped and feared the gods and goddesses, Queen Mab is the sister of the Lady of the Lake and the Queen of the magical kingdom where faeries, gnomes and all creatures alike resides.

The Character for Hallmark Channel's Merlin (1998) was partly inspired by the story of the Irish Mythology Celtic goddess Medb.
Medb, Maev, Medhbh, Meabh or Maeve, when translated in english, means "she who intoxicates".
Her character was also inspired by the gods and goddess of the ancient civilization of Britannia.
