Mini-bio: Antal Nimród was born in the United States, in Los Angeles, California. He is of Hungarian ancestry. His given name is pronounced: Neemrode. In 1991 he moved to Hungary to study at the Hungarian Film ...( read more)Academy, unfortunetly the study has never been concluded. In 2005 he moved back to his hometown with the undoubted success in his own. With the movie Kontroll (2003) he gained numerous awards and quite a huge reputation not only in Hungary. This film earned him the Award of the Youth at the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. In the 1990s he has been a high-successful director of music videos and television commercials in Hungary, besides the Czech Republic. It is rumoured that his good-looking helped him as well his talent to get more and more sought-after. He also appeared in acting roles in various Hungarian films. Antal's first american feature film was Vacancy (2007), starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson. Its follow up, Armored (2009) is scheduled to be released in September 2009. His style is very naturalistic with a bit of preposterousness spiced up with some black humour.
