Nina Dobrev mini-bio: Nina Dobrev (born January 9, 1989) is a Bulgarian actress currently living in Canada. From its sixth season, she currently plays Mia Jones, the teenage single mother on the hit Canadian show Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Nina moved to Canada at the age of two and has lived in Toronto, Ontario, since then. From a very young age she showed great enthusiasm and talent for the arts: dance, gymnastics, theater, music, visual arts, and acting. Nina attended the Dean Armstrong Acting school where she was discovered by many different talent agencies in Toronto. Modeling jobs led to commercials, which then turned into film auditions. Shortly thereafter, she booked roles in feature films including Fugitive Pieces, Away From Her, and the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. She also plays the star character in the MTV movie, The American Mall.
Nina attended Wexford Collegiate, school for the arts in Toronto until her graduating year. She has recently started her post secondary studies at Ryerson University in Toronto, majoring in Sociology. Because of intense filming schedules, she tries to maintain a balance with her school. Nina attended the Dean Armstrong Acting School where she was discovered by many different talent agencies in Toronto. She dated actor Daniel Clark in 2007, who has played Sean Cameron from Degrassi: The Next Generation ever since the beginning of the show.
On October 19, 2007, Nina appeared with some of her castmates on Me to We Day in the Ricoh Coliseum. She spoke to more than 7,000 students from across Canada.
She is Bulgarian Orthodox.
