The name "Mighty Boosh" was inspired by Michael, who once sported a haircut referred to by his friends as "The Mighty Bush". In 1998, along with Julian Barratt as The Mighty Boosh, he won The Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
