One of the best African American actor and director to have lived. He and his wife, Ruby Dee was what you probably would call the Hume Cronym and Jessica Tandy of the African American set if you will. Not only did he act in many films, he also directed a number of them, one of them was a little film called Black Girl; Cotton Comes to Harlem was another; i was fortunate to have met him and his wife back in the 80s; they were friendly,interesting people, and I was sorry to hear about his death in 2005; The world has lost a great man.
