Owen Cunningham Wilson
"The image - being from Texas, the slacker, surfer thing - you don't think of that and see a worrier, an angst-ridden person, I know that. Also, I'm reasonably polite and that puts people at their ease, so they think you are too."
Owen Wilson Mini-BioOwen Wilson was born November 18, 1968 in Dallas, Texas. He grew up with his mother, Laura, his father, Robert and his brothers, Andrew (the eldest) and Luke (the youngest).
Having been expelled from St. Mark's, Owen completed his sophomore year at Thomas Jefferson and then a New Mexico military academy. It was at the University of Texas in Austin where he met his longtime friend and collaborator Web Anderson. Together they wrote the screenplay for Bottle Rocket (1996), which won them some critical praise but tanked at the box office.
It was that experience that set into motion their move, along with Owen's two brothers (Andrew and Luke) to a house in Hollywood.
Owen found work almost right away, in Anaconda (1997), Permanent Midnight (1998), The Haunting (1999) and Breakfast of Champions (1999). None of which won him any critical acclaim. His next films got him noticed though in Shanghai Noon (2000), Meet the Parents (2000) and Behind Enemy Lines (2001).
Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson wrote the screenplay for the film The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), of which they were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. Owen Wilson is best known for his roles in the films, Shanghai Noon, Wedding Crashers, and Marley & Me.

| Was taken to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, CA after a reported suicide attempt. It was later found that the pills were antidepressants that had built up over time. There was never really an overdose. Once stabilized at St. John's, Wilson was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where his condition was initially described as serious, then later upgraded to stable. His lawyer later confirmed that he had been undergoing treatment for depression at the time of his suicide attempt. |
