Patrick received his first movie role in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous after two auditions. He went on to star in the satirical comedy Saved! (2004). Patrick lives in Salt Lake City with his parents and two siblings.

He is friends with Olivia Wilde and Tao Ruspoli.

He is in a band called Mushman.
