Mini biography:

Paul Dinello is an American actor, writer and director, probably best known for his role as
Mr. Geoffrey Jellineck in the Comedy Central series, Strangers with Candy. He was born November 28, 1962 in Oak Park, Illonois and grew up with 4 other siblings: a brother
named David and three sisters. He attended De Paul university where he learned about
The Second City, which soon inspired him to attend improv. classes. There he was
asked to audition shortly thereafter, and was hired on the same day as Amy Sedaris,
Stephen Colbert and Chris Farley, the former two whom he would later work with.

After 8 years of being on the Second City tour company, he, Amy Sedaris, Stephen
Colbert and Mitch Rouse moved to New York City (1994) to develop a show which
became Exit 57, a short-lived sketch comedy show on Comedy Central which ran for 2
years (two seasons.)

After the series he worked on independent films with his uncle, Dan Dinello, writing, co-directing and starring in Shock Asylum, Beyond the Door and Wheels of Fury. Soon,
Paul Dinello, Amy Sedaris and Stephen Colbert started to work on a new TV series for Comedy Central, which soon became Strangers with Candy. Paul's character Geoffrey Jellineck, a closeted-gay art teacher, was inspired by a teacher he knew in high school,
and when formulating the character, looked to the work of Jack Lemmon. Unfortunately, Strangers with Candy only ran for three seasons before being cancelled.

In 2003, Paul, Stephen and Amy wrote the book "Wigfield: The Can-Do Town Which Just
May Not", and promoted it with a travelling play.

While writing this book, they realized they had alot of unused book material, which they
soon decided to use for the movie "Strangers with Candy", which Paul not only helped
write and star in, but directed, infact the first he had ever directed.

Since then, Paul has been doing work on Stephen Colbert's TV show "The Colbert Report" since it began airing in October 2005, making occasional appearances as Colbert's
Building Manager, Tad. After directing the Strangers with Candy movie, he has also
starred in (playing a small cameo) and directed the film, "Gym Teacher: The Movie"
as well as there being rumours of him directing a film called "Mr. Burnout." In 2006, he
also mentioned a script for a movie called (atleast for now) "The Exorcists", although
there has been no further mentioning on the project.

Apart from writing Wigfield alongside Amy Sedaris and Stephen Colbert, he contributed
to "I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert (2007) and "I Like You:
Hospitality Under the Influence" by Amy Sedaris (acknowledged by her as co-writer.)

•When first meeting Stephen Colbert, he thought of him as "pretentious and sort of cold" and Colbert thought of him as "an illiterate thug".
•While editing the Strangers with Candy, he saved a dog from the L.A river. He had climbed down to get it but got stuck, which some people noticed and called the fire apartment. He was able to climb back up, and since the firemen were already there, they rescued the dog.
