Paul Newman is lucky to have a career after falling flat on his first starring role. His filmography is one of the most colorful examples of range in acting abilities. Along with Brando I feel he was mainly repsonsible for making it ok to like a character who wasn't a great person. He is the anti-hero prototype we use today.

Off the screen his work with charity only makes it harder to deny the idea of him being an overall perfect human being as ridiculous as that sounds.
