Rachel was born in London, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in the neighbouring town of St. Thomas. Her father Lance is a truck driver and her mother Sandra McAdams is a nurse. She has a brother named Daniel and a sister named Kayleen - her sister, is a make-up artist and even does make-up for other celebrities!

Rachel took up competitive figure skating when she was four, but switched to acting at age 12 when she joined the children's theatre group called Original Kids. By the age of 13, she was performing in Shakespearean productions in summer theater camp.


Rachel graduated from York University with Honours, and with her BFA degree in Theatre.

Rachel has been most notably linked with fellow Canuck Ryan Gosling, whom she shared the screen with in "The Notebook". They were even born at the same hospital! However, there relationship has turned into an on-again, off-again romance. Rachel is now romantically linked to actor Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama).


Next, you can see Rachel in the movie adaptation of Sherlock Holems directed by Guy Ritchie, and starring Robert Downey Jr.

    Rachel from what I can tell has that undeniable spark about her which very few people in the business can truly claim to have. She is also able to adapt to a wide range of roles and does them well which will see her acting for many years to come. I also think she is yet to reach her best work. Some people believed that to be 'The Notebook' but I think it is still to come.
